A Bonne Terre, Mo., man arrested Tuesday in connection to a robbery at KFC on William Street in Cape Girardeau was charged with three felonies Wednesday.
Anthony Eugene Smith, 19, is charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest for allegedly entering the restaurant around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, displaying a gun and demanding a cashier give him money.
He fled the scene, according to police, and got his vehicle stuck in a nearby field. Smith allegedly led officers on a brief foot-chase before he was arrested.
Smith is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
According to Sgt. Jason Selzer, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department, Smith was recently released from prison.
Smith was sentenced in September to serve 30 days in jail for a misdemeanor theft charge. Smith had his probation revoked in November for felony burglary and theft charges and was ordered to serve time in prison.
There has been no court appearance scheduled for Smith's current criminal charges.
