Changes have been made to the upcoming Nov. 13 Miss Jackson pageants. Contestants will now be grouped according to their age, and the names of the groups have also been changed.
The changes conform to rules and regulations of the state pageant sponsored by the Miss Missouri local pageants each summer.
The 4- to 5-year-old group, formerly Little Miss Snowflake, is now Tiny Miss Jackson; the 6- to 8-year-old group, formerly Little Miss Snowflake, is now Little Miss Jackson; the 9- to 12- year-old group, formerly Miss Holly, is now Preteen Miss Jackson; the 13- to 14-year-old group, formerly Junior Miss Christmas, is now Young Miss Jackson; the 15- to 17-year-old group, formerly Miss Christmas, is now Teen Miss Jackson.
The 18- to 23-year-old group, Miss Jackson, remains the same.
The theme this year will be "Honoring the Red, White and Blue!" Miss Missouri Whitney Weeks, also the pageant's own Miss Jackson, will be the mistress of ceremonies.
The pageant is sponsored by the Jacksonian Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
In 2006, the Miss America Organization will sponsor a Miss Teen America pageant. The Miss Teen Jackson pageant will be an official preliminary pageant to the Miss Teen Missouri/Miss Teen America Pageant.
