CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Rush H. Limbaugh award will be presented at the Cape Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting and dinner dance Friday at the Show Me Center.
"This marks the third year for the `Rush H. Limbaugh Sr.' award," said Linda Minner, of the chamber.
Minner explained that the award is presented to an area businessperson who has "expended exceptional effort on behalf of the community over an extended period of time." The winner is selected by a special committee appointed by the chamber.
Previous winners of the Limbaugh award were Rush H. Limbaugh in 1989, and Oscar C. Hirsch in 1990.
In the past, the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds award had been awarded at the chamber dinner. But it was announced last year, that the Exchange Club award would be presented at another time.
A date has not been established for presentation of the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds Award, said Jim Riley Sr., Exchange club president.
The chamber event gets under way with a social hour at 6 p.m., and will be followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. Music for the dance starts at 9 p.m.
Presentations to past directors of the chamber will be presented, and the 1990 chamber "Go-Getter" award will be presented.
