CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Children's Choir will present a dinner theater, "The Magic of Music," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the high school activities center.
Admission is $7 and includes a meal. Proceeds will help buy music and supplies for the Chaffee schools' music department.
March has been set aside as the month to focus on music education and the impact it has on children.
"Not only is music in school fun, but studies show that kids who learn music find science and math concepts easier to grasp and that they show significant increases in self-esteem and thinking skills," said Susan Blackburn, a music teacher and director of the choir.
The children's choir is open to children in grades four through six, and membership is by audition. The choir was founded in 1997 and is part of the school's music education offerings.
Choir members receive vocal and choral training and learn performance skills. Character building is part of the program, Blackburn said.
For information, call the school between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 887-3244.
