Scholars will also have the opportunity to take part in activities such as debate, journalism, art workshops, chorus, microcomputer and photography clubs, and theater and creative writing classes, as well as visit museums and attend lectures by political, business and civic leaders. A comprehensive sports program is also offered, said the district.

Tyler's activities have included football, baseball, basketball, track, band, student council, and the Beta, Biology-Ecology, and French clubs, the district said. He has received an academic letter, has been designated as an honor student, and has consistently been on the "A" honor roll.

Tyler is the son of Larry and Judi Meyr of Chaffee.
