Chaffee man injured in Wednesday crash

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. -- Zachery T. Payne, 18, of Chaffee was injured Wednesday afternoon after his 1995 Chevrolet ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The accident occurred at 3:58 p.m. on North Frisco Road, 1 mile north of Chaffee, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Payne was treated for moderate injuries at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. The Chevrolet was totaled and Payne was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the highway patrol reported.
