Chaffee man detained on child-porn charge

A Chaffee, Missouri, man faces charges he possessed child pornography.

George Hyman Arensmann, 45, is charged with possession of child pornography and possession of a firearm silencer.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said his office received a report Thursday that Arensmann was suspected of being in possession of illegal images of children.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Arensmann’s residence, which was served Friday. Several computer discs containing photographs of persons under the age of 18 were seized. Many of the photographs depicted children inappropriately dressed and in provocative poses, Walter said.

While searching the residence, officers also found a firearm accessory identified by Arensmann as a homemade firearm silencer.

Walter said this case remains under investigation, and he expected additional charges to be filed.

Arensmann was in the Scott County Jail in Benton, Missouri, on $35,000 bond.
