CHAFFEE -- Three new members were elected to the Chaffee Board of Education Tuesday.
Randy Dooley, a former alderman in Chaffee, led the school board balloting with 311 votes, just one vote more than Tom Davenport's 310 votes. Greg L. Ourth Jr. collected 264 votes to finish in the third winning position.
Four candidates were competing for the three seats. The fourth candidate was incumbent James H. Chronister, who is completing his first term on the school board. He collected 177 votes.
Dooley served as an alderman at Chaffee from 1990 to 1991. He resigned when he moved from his ward.
Dooley is employed as a staff pharmacist at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He previously operated a pharmacy at Chaffee.
Davenport, an employee of Procter and Gamble Co. and a lifelong resident of Chaffee, serves on the Chaffee Park Board.
Ourth is manager of the Chaffee IGA. He also serves on the Chaffee Park Board and the Chaffee School District Advisory Committee.
Four Chaffee aldermen were unopposed for re-election. Aldermen re-elected and their vote totals were:
Ward 1 Alderman Bill Cannon, 50 votes.
Ward 2 Alderman Ed Gauthier, 86 votes.
Ward 3 Alderman Danny Finley, 59 votes.
Ward 4 Alderman and Mayor Pro Tem Tom Cunningham, 87 votes.
