Central High School's annual Pops Concert features an assortment of music and dancing Friday at the Central High School Auditorium.

"It's really a lot of laughs and a lot of fun," said Judy Williams, director of Central High School choirs.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $1.

The concert precedes an all-school dance to begin at 9 p.m.

She said as many as 800 to 900 people attend the yearly concert.

The emphasis is on fun, Williams said. "We will be doing everything from `Sister Act' by the girls concert choir to an old tune, `Heart and Soul," by the chamber choir."

The girls choir also plans an Adams Family selection including guests Lurch and Thing.

On a more serious note, the Chamber Choir will perform selections from "Les Miserables" including soloists Clayton Hahs, Alison Nall, Amber Hopkins, Jenny Broom, Sarah Deimund and Chris Redfearn.

The Central High Jazz Band will perform.

Bill Springer is the emcee. "He should be a stand-up comedian," Williams said. "He's great."

In addition, Williams explained, a few slots are available to soloists who audition to perform. Soloists include Alexis Anthony, George Aplin, Jeni Kafka and Marge Wickham. Dancers are Sandy Quigley and Chris Prim.

"We have a rock band from the high school, `Paper Clip Nun,'" Williams said.

A student will perform a guitar solo of "Flight of the Bumblebee."
