The Cape Girardeau Central High School Class of 1962 celebrated its 30-year reunion June 19-20 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
There were 85 classmates and 65 guests in attendance. Guests included teachers from the years 1958-1962.
Class members were greeted with recorded sounds of pep band tunes as they arrived for a mixer.
The next morning the group gathered at Central High School for a car parade, with police escort, through the downtown area.
That evening brought a surprise reappearance of the "Bolshivsky Ballet." The performance was a reproduction of a skit by a group of male class members during a junior-year talent show. The men donned comical ballerina attire and performed the routine given 31 years ago in the Central High School auditorium.
The weekend concluded with members voting to return in five years.
The planning committee for this reunion included Mark Sarff, Nancy Bray, Peggy Barringer, Sue Gleason, Barry Thornton, Jeannie Freeman, Susan Smith, Carol Shaw, Rick Lamb, Jeanne Kelpe, Otto Windisch and Janet Gluesing.
