The Cape Girardeau Central Marching Tigers placed fourth in their class and sixth overall during their first performance at the Alton, Ill., competition.
The contest, held Saturday, featured 23 bands. The Central band scored a first place in marching and maneuvering, second for drum majors and music and third for the color guard.
On Oct. 21, the band will perform at Busch Stadium at 9:15 p.m. Forty-eight bands will compete. Last year, more than 13,000 people attended and the band finished third in the gold division.
Tickets to the Busch Stadium competition are available through the music department at Central High School.
The band's final competition will be held Oct. 28 at Park Hills.
