The faculty at Cape Girardeau Central High School honored one of its own last week.
Julia Jorgensen won this year's Distinguished Service Award. She teaches English at the school. Criteria for the award include qualities of professionalism and service in the area of instructional leadership, the extra-curricular program and teacher organizations.
Jorgensen was honored at a luncheon held last Thursday after the close of classes for the year.
Also honored were faculty members marking 25, 20, 15 and 10 years of teaching.
Judy Williams, vocal music, 25 years.
Sharon Barrows, physical education and health, 20 years.
Ann Bartlett, library, Joyce Edwards, science, Steve Henry, industrial arts, Pamela Schulte, biology and Mary Ellen Sharp, English, 15 years.
Margaret Zieba, math, 10 years.
Harold Glasscock, custodian, 10 years.
Twelve faculty members were also honored for perfect attendance this year at Central High School: Robert King, Weldon Hager, Lawrence Aeschlimann, Patricia Bratton, Joyce Edwards, Orville Krauss, Terry Kitchen, Jack Russell, Kay Story, Richard Wadlington, Jerry Woemmel and Jane Womack.
