WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- Cell phone technology helps lead to the rescue of a teenage girl and the arrest of the man who allegedly abducted her.
Authorities say 31-year-old Brian Bennett of California is in custody following his arrest on Tuesday in the eastern Missouri town of Wentzville. The 17-year-old victim is back with her parents in South Carolina.
The incident began Monday. Police say Bennett showed up at the Edgefield County, S.C., home of the girl he met over the Internet and took her away.
Authorities traced a cell phone call to St. Charles County, Mo. A Wentzville officer spotted the suspect's car at a Quik Trip convenience store, where he was arrested.
The girl was reunited with her parents on Thursday.
Prosecutors are seeking to have Bennett extradited to South Carolina.
