Celebrity waiters are needed for the Leukemia Society of America's benefit luncheon planned Oct. 29.
U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson will serve as the honorary maitre de and Joe Low, co-owner of My Daddy's Cheesecake and Southeast Missouri State University, will serve as the master of ceremonies, said Michael Burroughs with the Leukemia Society.
"We are asking well-known Cape Girardeau area citizens to participate as a celebrity waiters," Burroughs said. "You or your company will sponsor a table of eight for $100. You can then invite eight friends or business associates to be your guests at luncheon and lavish them with attention as their waiter."
In the past, Burroughs said, waiters have dressed in costume, danced and performed company jingles to collect some big tips.
The luncheon will be held at the Port Cape Girardeau restaurant on Water Street and proceeds will benefit the Leukemia Society.
For more information, or to sign up, call Burroughs at 1-800-264-2873.
