Nearly two weeks after a fire at a Jackson recycling business, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state fire marshal have ruled the cause of the fire undetermined, the bureau reported Tuesday.

Missouri Plastics, 4751 Route Y, caught fire Oct. 3.

No injuries were reported, and no one was at the plastics and paper recycling company when it burned.

The 100,000-square-foot structure was declared a total loss, with damage estimated at $7 million.

Investigators spent five days examining the scene of the fire and interviewing people but were unable to determine its cause, the bureau reported.

The investigation remains open, and the bureau's finding can be changed if new information comes in, it reported.
