CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Cast paper art works by the artist Tom Lang will be featured at a month-long exhibit at the University Museum Gallery. The exhibit begins Monday and runs through Feb. 28.
An opening reception will be held Monday beginning at 3 p.m. at the museum, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist.
Lang is a current exhibiting artist with recent showings at the Middlesex Polytechnic Gallery in England and the Southwest Texas University Art Gallery.
He presently is a professor of art and department chairman at Webster University in St. Louis. Lang holds a bachelor's degree in education, a master's in art education and a MFA in printmaking from Ohio State University.
The artworks exhibited at the museum are created using hand-cast paper and steel. They are wall relief sculptures, and show the artist's interest in texture, surface and shape. They incorporate both painterly approaches and printmaking techniques.
The museum is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
The Museum is located in Memorial Hall on Southeast's campus.
