CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Community Counseling Center will host the United States premiere of Carol's Dream, a theatrical dance performance based on Charles Dickens' beloved A Chris~tmas Carol December 16, 17, 18, and 19, 1999 at Academic Hall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.
Carol's Dream was written and choreographed by Dana Goodin Vanoni, dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of Dance Theatre Ensemble in Italy. Goodin will bring to the United States four professional dancers from her Italian dance company. Dancing and performing along with these guests will be children and adults from our local community. A special Thursday performance will be for the benefit of over one thousand area school children. The production is hosted by and is a fundraising event for the Community Counseling Center Foundation.
Dana Goodin Vanoni has ties to the Southeast Missouri area, and gained dance experience throughout the United States before forming her own dance company in Italy. Goodin Vanoni will be in Cape Girardeau Sept. 10-11 to hold auditions for Carol's Dream.
Parts include narrators, young and adult Scrooge, carolers, street urchins, and dancers at all levels of experience, with and without Pointe experience. Auditions will be held at Cape Central High School Auditorium, from 4-7:30 p.m., Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, according to the attached schedule.
Selected performers will be expected to attend evening and weekend rehearsals beginning in mid-September, until the performance in mid-December. A one-time tax-deductible donation of $30 is requested from selected performers to defray the cost of professional dance instruction. Costumes will be provided.
