JUPITER, Fla. -- The St. Louis Cardinals will wear hats honoring the city of Kirkwood at the team's opening spring training game.
Manager Tony La Russa said the Cardinals want to show solidarity with the city.
A gunman stormed Kirkwood City Hall two weeks ago and killed five people before police killed him.
The Cardinals plan to autograph their Kirkwood hats and auction them. Proceeds will go to a charity called BackStoppers Inc. that is raising money for the families of two police officers killed in the shooting.
The exhibition game is Wednesday afternoon.
