What began as a routine traffic stop in Stoddard County on June 30 became a police chase that ended outside of Campbell, Missouri.

That day, Matthew Robinson, 24, of Dexter, Missouri, tried to evade state troopers during a traffic stop.

The chase continued into Dunklin County. The driver continued onto Route WW outside of Malden, Missouri, eventually turning onto County Road 222 near Campbell. The driver crashed his car on a field road. He was apprehended, but passengers in the white Chevrolet Impala escaped.

After the arrest, Robinson was charged with nine felony counts, including three warrants for failure to appear in Stoddard, Dunklin and Cape Girardeau counties; resisting arrest by fleeing; driving while intoxicated; speeding 106 mph in a 55 mph zone; careless and imprudent driving; failure to yield to an emergency vehicle; and failure to stop at stop sign.

Authorities have indicated Robinson's passengers have been identified and will be pursued later.
