Published Dec. 10, 1990. Elizabeth Alberson of Cape Girardeau visited with St. Nicholas atop the old aerial ladder fire truck in the River Heritage Museum. At a benefit for the museum, children got to meet the jolly old fellow and make crafts for Christmas gifts. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Nov. 26, 1990. Art Dellamano of Old Appleton stood by Old Appleton's Pratt truss bridge that was undergoing restoration. About eight years earlier, heavy rains swelled Apple Creek, washing the bridge off its foundation and most of its parts down the creek. Published Dec. 30, 1990. A tow truck prepared to haul off a damaged car in foggy weather following a two-car collision on the Whitewater bridge on Highway 34, about one mile east of Burfordville. Four people suffered minor injuries in the accident. (Mark Sterkel ~ Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Oct. 11, 1990. Arriving in a hearse, the "Grim Reaper" toured Southeast Missouri State University to promote Alcohol Awareness Week. The silent, dark figure and two "victims" of an alcohol-related car accident toured the campus, distributing T-shirts and buttons to students.
