August 31, 1964 Southeast Missourian A Cape Girardeau police officer, Patrolman James Crites, was injured this morning when the police car in which he was a passenger collided with another car at the intersection of Broadway and Highway 61. Surveying the damage are Police Chief Irvin E. Beard (behind red light), Warren Strack, city fire inspector, Lt. Glen W. Volkerding of the Police Department and Burette O. Published Jan. 29, 1990. Two-year-old Adam Halter and his mother, Terri, built Adam's first snowman outside their home in Jackson. Three to four inches of snow fell overnight in Jackson during a snowstorm that covered a 50-mile strip in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
