Extended subfreezing temperatures made the Capaha Park Lagoon safe for skating for the first time that winter. At the lagoon, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Niswonger, Route 2, warmed up by the bonfire as Susan Younghouse skated past. The fire was the signal that skating was safe on the lagoon.
