Mitchell Dacus, 12, and Kristen Hosea, 10, both of Cape Girardeau, won a special sweepstakes that entitled them to be the Milk Duds Celebrity Batkids at a recent St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Mitchell Dacus, 12, and Kristen Hosea, 10, both of Cape Girardeau, won a special sweepstakes that entitled them to be the Milk Duds Celebrity Batkids at a recent St. Louis Cardinals baseball game.

As Batkids, they were able to go on the field prior to the game for an up-close and personal look at batting practice. They also were recognized through a scoreboard and public-address announcement.

Both received Cardinals souvenirs that included a jersey, bat, ball, certificate and autographs from many of the players. They then rejoined their family and friends in complimentary box seats for the game.

Mitchell is a seventh-grader at L.J. Schultz School and Kristen is a fifth-grader at Alma Schrader School.
