Kirk Yount, a member of Troop 10 in Cape Girardeau, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. To receive this highest award in Scouting, Yount earned 23 merit badges and completed a service project of building a double-sided bench at Cape Central Junior High School.
Yount has been a member of Troop 10 for three years. The troop is sponsored by First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau. The Scoutmaster is Bob White.
Yount is also a member of First Baptist Church, and is an honor student in the 8th grade at Central Junior High. He is the son of Christy and Grady Yount of Cape Girardeau.
The Edward D. Robertson Jr. Class of Eagle Scouts recently received the Eagle Scout award in a ceremony at Academic Hall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Robertson, who is the Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, delivered the dedication address. The class included 57 scouts from the Shawnee, Cherokee, and Osage District of the Southeast Missouri Council.
