She was selected for her historic preservation and cultural efforts in Cape Girardeau as they relate to tourism.

Schneider said the conference will focus on developing a national strategy for the travel and tourism industry.

The travel and tourism industry ranks second nationally, employing 13 million people directly and indirectly. The industry contributes $417 billion annually to the nation's economy.
