A Cape Girardeau woman was arraigned Tuesday on an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with a July 19 accident on Fountain Street.

Angelia J. Hanson, 29, is accused of backing a 2001 Dodge Durango over Jody L. Lane, 43, outside their home at 612 N. Fountain St.

Lane, with whom Hanson told police she was in a romantic relationship, died of internal hemorrhaging as a result of multiple internal injuries, a forensic pathologist testified at a preliminary hearing last month.

According to testimony from a Cape Girardeau police officer who responded to the accident, Hanson told police she and Lane had been arguing because Hanson was running late for work, and she "floored it" out of the driveway, unaware that Lane was behind the Durango.

At Hanson's arraignment Tuesday, Judge William Syler continued the case to Oct. 7 in response to a defense request for time to review the evidence against her.

612 N. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, Mo.
