Jerome E. Thurman of Cape Girardeau was among the 104 graduates at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.

Thurman is serving his residency in internal medicine at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Thurman of 3127 Laurel Lane.

More than half of the 1992 MU graduates have begun residency training in primary care, the area of greatest need in many rural and urban areas. Primary care includes internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine. Twenty-six graduates are entering residencies in internal medicine, 17 graduates are going into family medicine, and 13 are entering pediatric residencies. Other popular residencies include surgery, psychiatry, pathology and anesthesiology.
