A Tuesday morning shooting outside a Cape Girardeau apartment building on Cape Meadows Circle was the city's third such crime within four days.

A disturbance in the parking lot was reported to police shortly before 2 a.m. When police arrived, the 33-year-old victim was inside his apartment with four gunshot wounds to his legs.

Cape Girardeau police say the victim knew the suspected shooter, who is still not in custody, said spokesman officer Jason Selzer. The suspect, Adrian McKinsley Brown, 20, of 537 S. Hanover, Cape Girardeau, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

"We think we can find this guy," Selzer said. "He's a fool if he doesn't think we're looking for him."

The victim's wounds were not life-threatening and he was treated at a local hospital. Police are still interviewing possible witnesses. Anyone with information about Brown's whereabouts is asked to call police or CrimeStoppers at 332-0500.

Saturday morning saw two other shootings. In the first, Terry Vernon Lynn II, 26, was fatally shot in the head outside Players Lounge at 632 Broadway shortly before 2 a.m. Gregory Allen McNeely, 24, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He remains in custody on $1 million bond.

About six hours later on the 900 block of College Street, a 23-year-old man was shot once in his leg while talking in his yard to two men. One of the men shot him, but the wound was not life-threatening. No one has been arrested, Selzer said. Police are still trying to positively identify the suspects.

Police do not consider the shootings related.
