The school board decided in closed session Monday night to seek proposals from real estate brokers as the first step to hiring a real estate firm, superintendent Dr. David Scala said.

The district last year sought bids for the building at 101 S. Pacific St. Only one bid was received. In November, the board rejected the $350,000 bid of a Kansas City-area construction company.

In other action, Scala said the district will launch a newsletter to better inform residents about the school system.

The quarterly newsletter will be mailed to households, he said. The first issue is expected to be distributed by the end of the month, Scala said.
