The Cape Girardeau School Board at a special meeting Monday evening swore in two board members who were re-elected April 7.

The board also selected its president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and a Missouri School Board Association delegate and legislative representative.

Incumbents Kyle McDonald and Lynn Ware received the most votes of three candidates in April to serve a three-year term on the school board.

McDonald, owner of an insurance and financial agency, has served on the board for nine years, including three years as president and four years as vice president.

Ware, safe communities coordinator for the city of Cape Girardeau, has served on the school board since 2012.

The board re-elected McDonald to serve again as president, and Jeff Glenn will continue serving as vice president.

Beth Poyner, administrative assistant to the superintendent, will remain board secretary. Neil Glass, assistant superintendent of administrative services, will serve as board treasurer.

Board member Don Call, who served as the Missouri School Board Association delegate and legislative representative last year, was appointed to the position again.

The association is a delegate-directed organization. Local board members, through their involvement in the association's board of directors and committees, review and recommend resolutions to the delegate assembly.

Based on the proposed resolutions, the assocation's legislative positions are determined by the delegate assembly at the annual conference each fall.

If Call is unavailable, board member Phil Moore will serve as the alternate.
