The recently constructed bridge on Cape Rock Drive near Dennis Scivally Park will open to traffic at 4 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Cape Girardeau Public Works Department. While the project's road work will continue, the remaining construction can be finished without restricting traffic. Motorists are asked to use caution as the bridge work is completed. During work on the project, which began in early July, contractor Zoellner Construction removed the bridge's box culvert structure and replaced it with a new single-span bridge structure. The contract amount was about $508,000, and the project was funded through the 2008 Parks and Recreation Stormwater Tax initiative. For more information, call the public works department at 339-6351.
