Residents living on Pindwood Lane told police Saturday a man forced his way into their home, assaulted two of them, and robbed them, police said.
Cape Girardeau police Cpl. Jason Selzer said Monday police received a call at 8:14 p.m. from four residents, aged 53, 28, 19 and 15, in the 200 block of Pindwood Lane.
They told police there was a knock at the door in the residence's carport. When one of the residents answered the door, a man reportedly punched him in the face and forced his way into the house brandishing a sawed-off shotgun, Selzer said.
He entered, followed by two other men, and punched another resident who was coming out of the bathroom, Selzer said.
The four victims were ordered to "sit down and shut up" and to empty their pockets, he said.
While one suspect reportedly watched over the victims, the other two suspects allegedly stole various items by putting them in a red plaid pillowcase, Selzer said. The men reportedly ripped a phone out of the wall and left through a sliding glass door in the back of the house.
A small amount of cash was reported stolen along with a cell phone, Xbox games and remote, some prescription drugs, a portable PlayStation and a toy airgun, Selzer said.
Selzer said the two victims physically assaulted by the robbers had swollen, red faces. A canine unit was called to the scene, but did not find any evidence, Selzer said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the police department at 335-6621.
