Cape Girardeau police arrested a Sikeston, Missouri, man after he pointed a pistol at another man during an argument, according to a probable-cause statement.
The Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney’s office charged Stephen B. Caldwell, 36, with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Cape Girardeau police arrested Caldwell on Friday.
About 2:30 p.m., another man confronted Caldwell at 815 Enterprise St. because Caldwell was having a sexual relationship with his wife, according to a probable-cause statement Cape Girardeau police officer Zachary Farley filed in connection with the case.
The man said Caldwell grabbed a .380 caliber pistol from his trunk and pointed it at him, which persuaded the man to leave the area, Farley wrote.
Officers later found Caldwell in his vehicle in a parking lot at Progress and Gerhardt streets, according to the statement.
They read Caldwell his Miranda rights, and Caldwell said he grabbed the gun after the argument started, but he pointed it at the ground to get the other man to leave, Farley wrote.
Caldwell previously was convicted of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in 2013, according to a warrant for his arrest.
