Two suspects in a series of shootings in Cape Girardeau are being sought on $250,000 warrants.
Arrest warrants for Pervis J. Boyd, 24, and Marquies C. Boyd, 22, were issued Saturday charging both men with felony unlawful use of a weapon in an Oct. 17 evening shooting.
The men are accused of firing handguns at a Chevrolet Suburban at the intersection of West End Boulevard and Good Hope Street, according to police spokesman Jason Selzer. They reportedly were riding in a black pickup truck. Between six and eight shots were fired and the Chevrolet, which was occupied, was struck twice, police said. No one was injured.
Police say the pair also is connected to a rash of shootings last week in which several homes Cape Girardeau homes were targeted, but no one was struck. "We believe that they're linked with the other shootings," Selzer said, adding both men are considered suspects.
On Thursday morning, homes at 313 N. Fountain St. and 1201 Ranney Ave. were shot at. Police believe as many as four different weapons were used to fire between 30 and 40 shots at the apartment on Fountain Street.
A day earlier, shots were fired at a vehicle and garage in the 3100 block of Mimosa Drive. A week ago a home at Good Hope and Hanover streets had windows shot out.
Police learned about the shooting Oct. 17 and the alleged involvement of Pervis Boyd and Marquies Boyd while investigating the other shootings, Selzer said.
Both Boyds, who are relatives of one another, have a last known address of 424 S. Hanover St. and had bond set at $250,000 cash.
Police chief Carl Kinnison said at a city council meeting Monday night that investigators hoped to have two additional warrants filed today against more suspects in the shootings.
