A Cape Girardeau man was charged with second-degree robbery after he threatened to strike another man with a pipe if the victim didn't give him beer money, said Cape Girardeau police Sgt. Jason Selzer.
Investigators said Kerry Glen Maurer, 31, was in a friend's apartment in the 200 block of South Hanover Street about 8:20 p.m. Friday, when he asked another man for money for beer. The victim complied. Later, after Maurer asked for more money, the victim refused, at which point Maurer threatened to hit him with a nearby metal pipe, Selzer said.
The victim gave Maurer all his money. Police arrested Maurer at the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Selzer said.
