A rash of burglaries involving the disappearance of laptop computers, television sets and other items was reported over the Thanksgiving holiday. A rash of burglaries involving the disappearance of laptop computers, television sets and other items was reported over the Thanksgiving holiday. According to patrolman Jason Jurgens of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, a laptop computer, two televisions and an iPad were reported stolen from a residence at 609 Maple St., as were an XBOX 360, laptop computer, a BB gun and an undisclosed amount of cash from an apartment located at 2857 Themis St. At 921 Hackberry St., two televisions, a knife collection and a coffee maker were reported missing, and a laptop computer and a flat-screen television were taken at 234 S. Ellis St.

Burglaries were also reported at 801 William St. and 710 Morgan Oak St. In those incidents, guns, video games, DVDs and electronics were stolen.

Jurgens said the burglaries occurred late Thursday night and early Friday morning but the police department is unsure if there is a link to the crimes.
