The Cape Girardeau Police Department is joining a national crackdown to reduce drunken driving fatalities.
According to a news release issued by police department spokesman Darin Hickey, officers will be out in force as part of the nationwide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" crackdown on drunken driving. The drunk-driving crackdown, which will include high-visibility law enforcement and high-profile events, is scheduled to run now through the Labor Day holiday weekend. Police will be aggressively looking for drunk drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving drunk, the release said.
