A Cape Girardeau man is in custody on charges of attempted robbery and armed criminal action in connection with a shooting outside a convenience store last week, police reported Thursday.
Evan Johnson Jr., 30, is accused of trying to rob a man of an Xbox video game system near the intersection of Bloomfield and Hanover streets, court records show.

The shooter has not been arrested, the release stated.
The victim was treated and released from a hospital, police reported last week.
The shooting was the first of three recent gun-related crimes in the area.
