Cape man pleads not guilty to molestation charge

A Cape Girardeau man accused of molesting a girl younger than 17 last month has pleaded not guilty to child molestation charges and has a new court date. Terry E. Headrick, 43, will appear again before Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis Oct. 12. According to court documents, the victim in the case told police that she woke up around 3 a.m. Aug. 11 to Headrick touching her inappropriately. The probable-cause affidavit said that during an interview with police, Headrick denied ever touching the victim in a way he shouldn't have. Headrick told officers he rubbed her shoulders, her back and kissed her forehead to console her after the two had a fight in which he had yelled at her. Headrick has one prior conviction in Cape Girardeau for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license.
