A Cape Girardeau man is in jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond after law enforcement officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration Drug Task Force, the ATF and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office say they found more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, four times the requirement needed to reach Class B felony requirements.
Detrayous Curry, 40, faces a first-degree drug trafficking charge for methamphetamine, a second-degree drug trafficking charge for cocaine and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The officers searched Curry’s residence Wednesday, June 12. They found a .223/.566 assault rifle fully loaded with 30 rounds, according to a probable-cause affidavit signed by a Poplar Bluff police officer whose name is redacted in the report. Curry, a convicted felon, cannot legally possess a firearm.
Officers found methamphetamine, cocaine and oxycodone tablets. The Class B felony of second-degree trafficking requires that a defendant knowingly possessed 90 grams or more of methamphetamine, according to a warrant issued in the case. Officers found 328 grams of meth in the freezer door of Curry’s dining room, the report says.
According to the probable-cause statement, Curry was previously arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, domestic assault, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, child endangerment and other drug charges.
Judge Frank Miller assigned to Curry a $100,000 cash-only bond.
