Circuit Judge Benjamin Lewis on Monday sentenced Steel W. Moyers, 31, of Cape Girardeau to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Moyers pleaded guilty to second-degree domestic assault Feb. 22. He was accused of choking his wife and threatening to kill her with a butcher knife Nov. 8. Moyers' lawyer, Brandon Cooper, said Moyers' wife submitted a statement declaring Moyers never threatened to kill her -- a detail that differed from the sentencing assessment given to Lewis.
