A Cape Girardeau man was found guilty Friday on two counts of first-degree child molestation.
A jury of nine men and three women found Brendon Max, 29, guilty after an hour of deliberation, according to a news release from Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Limbaugh.
A warrant for Max was issued in July, online court records show, after the child's father reported the molestation June 23, 2014.
During an investigation by Cape Girardeau police and Beacon Health Center, the child, who was 6 at the time, told authorities Max had shown his penis and made the victim touch it several times, according to a probable-cause statement in the case.
First-degree child molestation is a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years. Judge Benjamin Lewis has scheduled sentencing for Aug. 24, the release said.
