Two charged with trying to smuggle marijuana

Two people were charged Tuesday with conspiring to smuggle marijuana into the Scott County Jail. Dustin Sitzes, 29, of Cape Girardeau was already an inmate at the jail, charged with failure to appear for possession of a controlled substance. On a visit to the jail, Susan R. Haney allegedly hid marijuana for Sitzes in a public area. Sitzes, who was a trusty at the jail, planned to pick up the marijuana during a routine cleaning of the public areas, police said. The jail staff found the contraband before anyone else could pick it up. Haney, 25, of Chaffee, Mo., was arrested and released on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. Both were charged with one felony count of delivery or possession of a controlled substance to a county jail.
