Cape man arrested on child molestation charges

A Cape Girardeau man is in custody of the Cape Girardeau Sheriff's Department based on allegations that he molested and engaged in other sexual misconduct with two girls, ages 7 and 9.

Charles Park, 65, arrested Wednesday, is charged with child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child. In interviews Wednesday with staff at Beacon Health Center, the girls told about the incident at Park's home on Highway 177, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Their mother reported the molestation to authorities.

Park did not agree to be questioned by police and requested an attorney, according to the affidavit. He's being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

There is no date set for Park to appear before a judge.
