BENTON, Mo. -- A Cape Girardeau man was arrested during the weekend and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.
Joshua Dannenmueller, 33, of 639 Terry Lane, was charged with felony assault of a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving and misdemeanor failure to obey a traffic control device.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said in a news release that Scott County deputies Justin Wooten and Ivan Brant attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Dannenmueller on northbound U.S. 61 in Scott County. The vehicle was being driven all over the roadway and failed to yield for deputies, the release said.
The release did not specify the day the incident took place. The Scott County Sheriff's Department would not release that information and the sheriff could not be reached Monday afternoon.
Dannenmueller entered Scott City and continued to flee onto northbound Interstate 55. The pursuit entered Cape Girardeau, where Dannenmueller was stopped on South Kingshighway.
During his arrest, Dannenmueller bit Brant, resulting in the assault charge, according to the release.
Dannenmueller is being held at the Scott County Jail on a $1,500 cash-only bond.
