CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Voters in Cape Girardeau and Jackson Tuesday will decide where John and Jerre Hall's two children attend school.
The Halls, residents of the Cape Girardeau school district, have asked that a 35-acre farm just north of the San Dangaro subdivision be included in the Cape Girardeau School District. The property is now in the Jackson School District.
The family is building a home on the property and intends to live there.
Missouri law requires that changing property from one school district to another be submitted to voters of both school districts.
A simple majority vote in both districts is required to redraw the boundary lines.
The Halls' children attend Alma Schrader School and their parents have said they would like the children to remain in the same school.
The property lies behind old Hanover Lutheran Church. It is bounded on the south by San Dangaro Subdivision and on the east and north by the Jaycees Municipal Golf Course.
