PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A Cape Girardeau woman was arrested on burglary charges after a homeowner allegedly found her stealing items in Perry County.
The Perry County Sheriff's Department reported that Katherine I. Haws, 25, of Cape Girardeau was arrested for burglary and stealing items from a vacant home and shed on Perry County Road 614.
According to a news release issued by the sheriff's department, the homeowner said Haws gave a fictitious name and phone number when confronted Wednesday night. On Thursday, sheriff's department personnel identified and located Haws, who confessed when interviewed, the release said. An arrest warrant was issued Friday, charging her with one felony count of burglary and one misdemeanor count of stealing. She was being held at the Perry County Jail on Friday on $5,000 cash-only bond.
