A 22-year-old man was treated and released from a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to his foot Sunday, police said.
The man, from Caruthersville, Mo., told police that at about 12:54 p.m. a man in a blue minivan fired two to four rounds at him at the corner of Hanover and Good Hope streets, Cape Girardeau police Cpl. Jason Selzer said Monday. One of the rounds hit his left foot, and he was transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.
The victim described the van as a blue, late-model minivan, Selzer said.
Selzer said an investigation at the scene uncovered a "couple of bullets" in the ground, and witnesses there corroborated the victim's story.
"We've got some good leads, but no name yet," he said. "No charges have been filed, but that may change as the investigation continues."
