A 78-year-old Cape Girardeau woman was killed Monday morning when her car struck a guardrail and overturned several times, ejecting her. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mary Stinnett was traveling north on Interstate 55, two miles north of Cape Girardeau, at 10:25 a.m. when the accident occurred. Her 1997 Oldsmobile ran off the right side of the roadway before it struck a guardrail and a culvert, then flipped over. County Coroner Mike Hurst pronounced Stinnett dead at the scene. Hurst said Stinnett was alone in the car, but witnesses said that they saw her weaving on the road prior to losing control. Stinnett's body was taken to Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
