Cape Girardeau Public Library March schedule
n Great Decisions 2007 will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursdays in the Hirsch Community Room. - Great Decisions 2007 will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursdays in the Hirsch Community Room. Great Decisions, sponsored by the library and the Center for Regional History, encourages citizens to voice their opinions and concerns about current world issues at meetings held today (climate change and global warming), March 8 (Mexico), March 15 (international migration in a globalizing economy), March 29 (South Africa: Facing New Challenges). Free; open to the public.
- The library will be closed March 9 for staff development day.
- A genealogy database workshop for those interested in family research will be held at 2 p.m. March 10. The workshop will introduce search techniques, including those for female family members. Focus will be on ancestry.com, Heritage quest Online and information that may be obtained from the Missouri Secretary of State's office. Free. Registration not required.
- Michael Lund, creator of the Route 66 novel series, will present an author/book signing program sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation at 2 p.m. March 13. Books will be available for sale. Profits go toward Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation projects.
- Women's Night at the Library will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. March 16 in the Hirsch Community Room. Registration is required due to space limitations. Call adult services at 334-5279, visit the reference desk or register online at www.capelibrary.org. Deadline for registration is Friday.
- The book discussion group will meet at 7 p.m. March 27 in the Hirsch Community Room for discussion of "A Lesson Before Dying" by Earnest Gaines.
